Neil Mann - Tel. 01279 772521 Sunday 5th July Reminders! Those who have entered... the Epping Forest 100s Level 3 Licenced Meet is taking place Sunday 5th July at Loughton Pool, Traps Hill. Those who have not entered: if you are 8 years or older you are welcome to a free fun swim at Burnt Mill 12.00 til 14.00. Bring some money however, to spend at the school Fete. (Please eat your burgers AFTER swimming!) Hoddesdon Open Meet This unlicenced Meet takes place Sat. 5 Sept. at Enfield. HPSC enter every year and we like to send as large a team as possible to support Hoddesdon. (Also its fun to compete against all the swimmers who left our club). There's no lower limit so most swimmers can enter. Check the Qualifying Times (if you have an Essex time you might be too fast). Get your entry forms to Anne Reynolds by 9 July please. Program of events shows when races take place. Bishops Stortford Open Meet This is the first licenced meet of the season. There QTs, but they are not too difficult and most swimmers should be able to enter. HPSC like to support this local Club with as many entrants as we can. Its your first chance to get your times into the National online database for next season. Download the info pack and submit your entry forms to Anne Reynolds by 9 July please. Junior Speedo Round 3 Results Harlow Penguins had an excellent finish to Junior Speedo. Despite a somewhat depleted team due to school commitments and illness, HPSC scored 40 more points in round 2 than in round 2, with much higher finishing places. Team Manager's report and result times. Well done and thanks to all swimmers. Killerwhales Gala results Penguins entered our largest team yet for an Open Meet. Some 20 swimmers went to Thurrock on 21 June, many winning medals and places, almost all with personal best times. Please see results sheet. Congratulations! and many thanks to Carmen and Anne. Essex County Championships Finishing positions Five swimmers entered the Essex County Championships in 2009 Team Captain Craig Warwick, Danny Chan, Mason Arnold, Vikki Malcolm and Tori Koskocan. Our young swimmers were rewarded with British Age Group Category certificates confirming their positions against all other Essex swimmers in 2009. Craig Warwick is still swimming fantastic times that will qualify him for the Essex Men's finals in November. Congratulations to all! Thanks to poolside helpers Carmen and Jan. Swimmers' times, positions and points. Parents' responsibilities We request that parents of learn to swims stay onsite during the lesson. This is for any reason where your swimmer needs to leave the pool early. Parents of squad swimmers must leave a mobile phone number and be available to return promptly if you child needs to leave the water. Thank you. Results - ECASA Champ finals 2008 Craig Warwick and Alex Francey were worthy ambassadors for HPSC at the Essex finals,with Craig alone gaining more points than 3 other teams. Alex narrowly missed out on the skins finals with a 50m Free time of 26.04 and Craig took a bronze medal with a 50m Back time of 29.38. Times of all races. Thanks also to Jan for report and for representing HPSC. Check your results! Its now possible to enter your surname on the British Swimming website and find your ASA#. Using your ASA# it is then possible to check your PBs whenever you swam at a licensed meet (non-licensed are not recorded). This proves your eligibility to enter the County Champs. Penguins win Sports Awards Against very worthy competition, Harlow Penguins Swimming Club received the 2008 Harlow Community Sports Club of the Year trophy. Club Coach, Carmen Byfield also won the trophy for Coach of the Year, presented to her by Graham Gooch. Neil Mann, Head of swimming at Stewards School, received an award for his Services to Sport. Our congratulations to all winners, who will now be put forward to the Essex Sports Awards. Members Only: Parents sign up to be informed! Harlow Penguins' Masters swimmer Alyson Fordham took victory at the Masters Championship, Sheffield, in the 50-54 Age Group, in 100m and 200m Freestyle, for which she set a new British Record of 2:27.90.
