Harlow Open Meet 2010:
The legendary Harlow Open Meet, held traditionally last weekend in September, will resume in 2010. As most local Clubs will be aware Harlow Town Pool was closed in 2007. A new 8 lane pool, with spectator seating in excess of 250 will open in Harlow for swimming approx. 1 Nov. 2009. In the 2009-10 Season the new Committee of Harlow Penguins will first organise a small local gala to relaunch swimming in Harlow. The date for this gala has yet to be confirmed, but it cannot be September and therefore needs to be fitted in with the calendar dates of other local Clubs. It is anticipated that this will be a time-restricted gala and entry will be by invitation to local Clubs. The gala will be held in memory of the late Eric Shepherd, founder of Harlow Penguins, and will then become an annual event (in addition to the Harlow Open).
