Aldershot designated meet 22nd and 23rd May 2004

Aldershot has a 50m pool that is owned and operated by the Armed Forces at their Aldershot Garrison. This is a lovely 8x 50m pool with electronic timing, cafeteria facilities and outside lawns to relax on (or seats for Carol to fall asleep on - boy was it hot!).

This designated meet was well supported with competing swimmers from 60 different clubs. There were European Junior swimmers amongst the many talented club swimmers. Ryan Treo, recently joined from Harrow, made his debut swim in Harlow colours and was successful achieving 3rd place in the 50m freestyle race (15\16 year olds).

Kaz Melvin secured one second and one third medal but more importantly also attained two National Qualifying times (NQTs). Cydney Newman achieved one Gold, one Silver and one Bronze medal but unluckily did not secure a NQT. She missed the 100m free time by less than half a second!!

Louise Kendall missed the racing on Saturday as she was still in Spain. However she was up 5.30am Sunday, drove the 80 miles to Aldershot and achieved three creditable times in the 100m free, 400m free and 200m breast. All the times and places can be found below.

Cyd ended up as 4th top girl in her age group with Kaz 5th top girl in her age group.
