Essex League Round 1, Division 3 - 16th October 2004 (Harwich)
A young depleted Harlow Penguins team, including debutant swimmer Stephanie Piercey, narrowly came fourth with 197 points against competing swimming clubs Killerwhales (first 222), Waltham Forest (second 219) and Harwich (third 203). We done extremely well considering two of our youngest girls pulled out of the gala on the day due to illness. There should have been 6 teams in this division but Colchester and Redbridge have both pulled out this year.
We won seven races outright of which six were individual and one was from our boys open 4x 50m freestyle relay team swam by Chris, Matt, Tom and Mark. In fact many of our swimmers swam in races two years above their own age and as such swam extremely well. Our individual winners were Chris (Open 50m fly), Luke (u11 50m free), Mark (Open 100m back and 100m free), Chris (u11 50m back) and Senner (u11 50m free). Whilst our girls did not win any races they came second in six races.
Harwich was a small pool with limited viewing facilities. It will be a welcome change when we swim at Fullwell cross on January 8th 2005 for Round 2.
