Gateshead & Whickham Designated meet (29th & 30th January 2005)

Red lane swimmers Kaz Melvin, Louise Kendall, Karl Batorski & Mark St Clare drove the four hours to Sheffield to compete in a weekend of long course racing at the 50m International Pool at Sheffield. Accompanying them were a delighted Club coach Alan Mitchell, Carol Melvin and  Gill St Clare. Missing from our quartet of swimmers was Cydney Newman who pulled out having been ill all week.

Kaz and Karl secured National Qualifying times with Louise and Mark both improving personal bests. Alan advises me there were in excess of 60 clubs at this meet but only a handful were Southern based. Harlow Penguins were the only Essex based club to attend.

Special congratulations to Kaz who  I believe secured an European qualifying time - more details to come as I understand what this means.
