Southern County Bagcat Championships (2nd and final weekend) - 19th & 20th June 2004

Alan Mitchell was an extremely happy Coach when his young "bagcats" (Girls 9 to 13 and Boys 9 to 14) made FOUR Southern County finals between them. To reach a Southern County Final is a tremendous honour and enables the Penguins to pit their ability against swimmers from an area that covers Cornwall to the very strong squad that swims at Hatfield (just north of London).

Kaz Melvin continued her excellent season with 3rd in the 100m backstroke final and 7th in the 100m breaststroke final! She also came 17th in the 200m free and 18th in the 800m free.

Cydney Newman achieved her first ever competitive race in a Southern County final coming seventh in the 200m freestyle. She also swam in the 800m freestyle coming 10th.

Tom Burley had an excellent swim in the 200m freestyle eventually finishing 28th in his age group.

Louise Kendall continued to impress Alan Mitchell with excellent swims in the 400IM, 200m free,  200m fly and 100m breast.

Mark St Clare was unable to repeat last weeks NQT in the 100m freestyle but did secure 15th. Mark also came 21st in the 100m backstroke.

Phil Noone came 18th in the 100m breaststroke. An excellent result considering Phil was only 14 the Saturday previous so was swimming against some boys almost 11 months older than him.

Louis George was also a Southern county finalist in the 100m backstroke coming 4th overall. he also swam in the 200m free which was extremely tough were he finished 53rd.
