Report, results and splits from National London Speedo - Division 1

On Saturday 11th October Harlow Penguins achieved their best ever result in the National Speedo London league. Against stiff opposition from City of Cambridge, Harrow & Wealdstone, Griffins, Wandsworth and Potters Bar the Harlow Penguins team secured a very deserved and impressive 3rd place. The gala was held and hosted by Harlow with some teams arriving two hours prior to competitive racing.

The standard of competition was extremely high and a club as small as Harlow Penguins should be very proud at how well it is doing. Feedback from the coaches, swimmers and parents was that this was a very exciting and enjoyable gala. All the swimmers played their part with not one single DQ.

There are 24 teams in the first division and we are currently lying in 12th place. This is a superb result BUT we have an extremely tough second round swimming against Ipswich (at Ipswich), Teddington, Cheshunt, Hatfield and Harrow & Wealdstone (again). The same professional attitude of our swimmers is required to ensure continued interest in the first division next season. It will be great to see Karen Pickering trying her best against Kate Burley, Roxanne Hatch, Sarah Hughes or Faye Angold..she has no chance!!!!!

Mens Open 4x 50m medley relay team:- Adam Angold, Karl Batorski, Chris Daly, Oliver D'Arcy

The following swimmers all achieved second individual places; Kaz Melvin (13u 100m breast), Adam Angold (15u 100m back), Karl Batorski (Men 100m fly), Annie Groome (10-11yrs 50m fly AND 50m free),  Cydney Newman (13u 100m free),
