Essex League Division 2 Round 2

Harlow Penguins swimmers secured 5 first places and four second places at the 2nd Round of the Essex League match held at Colchester on January 10th 2004. Unfortunately we just missed out on 5th place by a mere nine points and fourth place by 10 points. The final positions were first Chelmsford 222, second Edmonton Pheonix 193, third Becontree 174, fourth Braintree 150, fifth Colchester 148 and sixth mighty Harlow Penguins 139 points. Please note that Harlow achieved 18 MORE points than they did round 1 so congratulations for all the hard work to all swimmers.

Our individual winners were:-
Jodie Want u13 50m back, Annie Groom u11 25m fly, Kate Burley Open 100m free, Chris Daly Open 100m free and Tom Burley u15 50m fly

Second places were achieved by:-
Open 4x 25m medley relay team (Matt, Chris, Adam & Oli), Jenna Batorski 50m U11 breaststroke, u13 4x50m freestyle (Kaz, Rhianne, Nicole & Jodie), Open 4x 50m free (Chris, Matt, Adam & Oli)

The individual races with splits and positions can be found here. If you spot a deliberate mistake please let me know

Two swimmers made there debuts for Harlow Penguins - these were  Thomas Smith and James Ilic (both aged 9) who were chosen as a direct result of their impressive displays at our recent time trials. I have had a good report from Carol Melvin, who was team manager for the day, that these boys were a great asset to our team with lots of potential.

Thanks to Ken, Carol, Steve Turner, Dean and Guy for helping us out as usual. If these parents did not give up their own time we would not have a swimming club
