Cambridge Open Meet (Sunday 17th July)
After the successful Club presentation on the Saturday, ten Harlow Penguin swimmers the following day made the 45 minute trip to Cambridge to star in the last gala of this season. The Cambridge pool is allegedly built by the same architects who will hopefully build the new Harlow Pool. If this is true we are in for a treat as this marvellous 8x 25m lane pool is wonderful but perhaps gets too hot when glorious sunshine fries competitors and spectators alike. Some of the hardy Penguin swimmers, Coaches for the day and parents were at Cambridge for over 12 hours - but it was certainly worth it!!!
We believe all swimmers gained at least one personal best time with Luke Marioni and Matt Cooper having the best returns both winning their respective age groups (and money as well!!). Matt Cooper may have been the top boy for the whole event - we are currently lodging a complaint with the Cambridge officials as they have omitted Matt's final win.
