HPSC Essex League Div2. Round4 report 2007

Essex League – Round 4

The evening of Saturday 31st March saw a team of Penguin swimmers catch a coach to Clacton to compete in the final round of the Essex League Galas.

A usual the U/11 freestyle relay team started the evening off in style winning 1st place.

Jodie came home in 2nd place in the 50m Open fly. But after this race we could see all was not well and one of the starting blocks had to be replaced. This was the start of a continuing problem throughout the evening.

However Natalie Ling and Chris Stevens were not deterred and won their U/13 50m backstroke races convincingly

Sadie Clifton battled well to win 2nd place in the U/11 25m fly.

It was a treat for our younger swimmers to see Karl Batorski 19 swim and win both his races in the 100m breast and freestyle.

U/11 50m back saw Amelia Dimmock also gain a 1st place.

At the end of the evening Victoria, Tomas, Natalie, Chris, Emily, Alex, Kaz and Karl competed in the squadron relay which is aways an exciting end to an evening. However, our swimmers went out with something to prove after getting disqualified in round 3 and came home in a convincing 1st place.

Although we picked up a few more disqualifications in this round the team achieve 2nd place with 176 points and Romford winning on only 9 points more.
