HPSC Essex Championships 2007 Block A

Twenty one swimmers represented Harlow Penguins at the 1st of 5 rounds of the Essex County Swimming Championships on the weekend of 21/22 Jan.

All events in this Block were 50m races. We started this year by winning 25 Final Places, which included winning 6 Gold, 5 Silver and 5 Bronze Medals.

Sennar Koskocan (11) had a great day by winning 3 Gold’s in Freestyle, Breaststroke, Backstroke and a bronze for fly. Kaz Melvin (16) was also successful in earning a Gold in Breaststroke and a Silver for Backstroke. Annie Groome (13) excelled in Backstroke to earn a Gold Medal. First timer to the Championships, Tomas Stevens (9), had a great day by winning a Gold Medal for Backstroke and achieving fourth place in the final for freestyle.

Penguins Alex Francy (14) won 2 Silver Medals in Fly and Freestyle and he also picked up forth place in the breaststroke. Karl Batorski (18) won Silver in Backstroke 28.97, bronze medals in Fly and Breaststroke and gained 4th place in freestyle. Winning another Silver medal for the club was Chris Stevens (12) in Freestyle and 4th place in backstroke.

Ruby Groome (15), won a Bronze in freestyle and she also went on to gain 5th place in backstroke. Also winning a Bronze was Jodie Want (15) for Breaststroke.

Other penguins to win places in the finals of the Championships were Thomas Burley (15) who came 6th in fly & freestyle, Ria Melvin (11) came 6th in Breaststroke and Tori Koskocan (9) who finished 5th in Backstroke.
