HPSC Essex Championships 2007 Block D

Penguins finish 8th in Essex Championships

During the weekend of 24-25 March the Harlow Penguins had 12 swimmers competing in the last round of the Essex County Swimming Championships at Thurrock.

Senner Koskocan 11, started the final round in fine form winning Gold in 200m breaststroke 3.01.97 and also picking up a Bronze Medal in 200m Freestyle 2.25.76. Senner also attacked the gruelling 1500m race finishing 6th in 19.38.61.

Senner finished the Championships by becoming Top Boy in the 11 year old age group winning a total of 6 Gold Medals.

Kaz Melvin 16, also continued her success of previous rounds winning Gold in 200m Breaststroke and then going onto win Silver medals in 200m Backstroke 2.21.74 and 100m Backstroke 1.10.27. She also came 6th in 400m Freestyle.

Kaz finished the Championships 2nd in the 16 + age group winning 5 Gold Medals.

Chris Stevens 12, won 5th place in 100m freestyle 1.04.83 achieving a personal best time and also finishing 5th in his age group.

Jodie Want 15, had an excellent weekend winning final positions in 3 out of her 4 races. Jodie achieved 4th in 100m and 5th in 200m Breaststroke 1.20.41 and 2.54.97 respectively. Jodie came 6th in 100m Individual Medley 1.13.83 and later during the weekend came 14th in 400m freestyle.

Louise Kendall 16, competed in 400m and 100m freestyle gaining 4th and 9th place in 4.34.51and 1.03.98.

Thomas Burley achieved 5th place in the 100m Butterfly 1.04.16 and a 9th place in 400m Individual Medley 1.08.65

Tori Koskocan and Tomas Stevens, both 9, the youngest Penguin swimmers competing, achieved personal best times in all their races over the weekend.

Tomas competed in the 200m Individual Medley achieving 7th place in 3.18.89 and 200m Breastroke and gained an 8th place in 3.47.85. At the end of the Championships Tomas came 7th in his age group.

Whilst Tori secured a 7th place in 200m Backstroke 3.17.59 and a 10th place in 200m individual medley 3.47.22.

Whilst one of the older Penguin swimmers Craig Warwick 16 achieved personal best times in both his races winning a 7th place in 200m backstroke 2.25.14 and a 13th place in 100m Indivdiual Medley.

Also competing over the weekend was Ruby Groome 15, who achieved a 9th place in 200m freestyle 2.19.45, 11th place 100m Individual Medley 1.14.32 which were personal best times for Ruby and a 10th place in 100m butterfly 1.13.60.

Also swimming during the weekend were Victoria Malcolm 11 and Matthew Walton 10 who both achieved personal best times in their races
