Junior Speedo M11 League, Round 3 The third and final round of Junior Speedo 2008 took place at Waltham Forest Pool on Sunday 29th June. Harlow Penguins were blessed with an almost full boys team of 15 swimmers but sadly a very depleated girls team of only 7 swimmers. Once again all those that took part swam their very best and the result show some excellent personal best times and promise for next season. The relay team of the gala was our 10 year old boys; Luke Sears, Joseph Walker, Dane Nicklen and Mason Arnold, they came second in both their relay races. Well done boys. The best individual performances also go to our boys: Dane Nicklen came first in the 10 year old 50m butterfly and Mason Arnold first in the 10 year old 50m Freestyle. I would also like to mention Frankie-Lee Dutton, who on his first junior speedo gala came second in the 9 year old 25m freestyle. Excellent individual personal best times were swum by Frankie-Lee Dutton, Joseph Walker, Jack Alexander, Rory Panton, Luke Guerrati, Ellis Singleton, Bradley Veitch, Dane Nicklen, Joe Tucker and Matt Walton. A special mention to Ellis Singleton who has finally broken his 40 sec 50m Freestyle barrier. My thanks go to all our 12 year old boys who have swum for Harlow Penguins in the Junior Speedo Galas: Matthew Walton, Jack Alexander, Ellis Singleton and Kyle Panton. The best individual performance from the girls was by Jasmine Hind, who despite coming straight from a football competition, swam a personal best in the 10 year old 50m freestyle and came second. Tori Koskocan, Abby Barnes, Georgia Andrew and Shannen Veitch also swam excellent personal best times. My thanks to our two great 12 year old girls for all their swims in the Junior Speedo Galas; Hannah Gladish and Georgia Andrew. Results: Canvey Island and Erith 210 points Eltham 178 points Hitchin 169 points Basildon 141 ponts Harlow Penguins 87 With no 9 year old girls and only one 10 year old girl we had no swimmers for ten events, but still achieved our highest points this season. Just think what we could achieve with more girl swimmers! My thanks to Carmen (Coach), Nicola Arnold (Judge), Karen Gladish (Timekeeper), Amy Sears (Assistant manager) Claire and Gina for somehow managing to get the split times and finally the loyal parents supporters for cheering us on.
