Killerwhales 1LR1534 Open Meet December 2011

Killerwhales Open - 17/18 December 2011

I’d just like to say well done to Bradley Veitch, Mason Arnold, Jasmine Hind and Kyle Panton for their swims this weekend. The Killerwhales meet presented some huge challenges, for most of them it was probably the first time they have swam in a 50m pool let alone compete in it. The Killerwhales meet was also a considerable step up in class, this is the first Level 1 open meet that they have swam in.

Just to give an indication of the level of swimmer competing, representing Romford Town was Elena Sheridan who won the 200m Butterfly at the European Junior Championships in Belgrade and broke her own 200m Fly British Junior Record when winning the Commonwealth Youth Games on the Isle of Man on 10th September 2011.

In terms of swims, Bradley was again outstanding, coming 4th in the 100m Free and 3rd in the 200m Freestyle, tonight Jasmine came 7th in the 200m Breast. In the 200m IM Mason actually managed to set a PB which is significant because his long course time should be a couple of seconds slower. The 3 boys swam in the 50m freestyle – a quick 1 length dash, Kyle led them home, his time would convert to a PB.

Again, well done all the swimmers, it was good to see Penguins competing at the highest levels again.
